Zardari Denied Health Charge In Park Lane Reference

Islamabad accountability court has indicted former president Asif Ali Zardari in Park Lane reference through video link, and the former president has denied the accuracy of the indictment.

Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Azam Khan heard the Park Lane reference. Asif Zardari appeared in the court from Bilawal House Karachi through video link while other accused were also present through video link.

At the beginning of the hearing, Asif Zardari said that my lawyers are busy in the Supreme Court today. I cannot be indicted today. You know, the guilt is on you.

The accountability court judge said that Farooq H Naik could have sent his assistant lawyer as well. There are two simple questions in English. You should listen to them and answer them.

Asif Zardari said that you must write in your order that the lawyer I am being charged in the absence of the accused, the accountability court judge noted that the charge is always framed on the accused, if his lawyer does not come, we can not force.

Judge Azam Khan of the Accountability Court then read out the indictment alleging that he, as the President of Pakistan, had influenced and released the loan amounts to the leading companies.

Borrowing billions of rupees, he was a director of the Park Lane Company and planned to forge.

The indictment against Asif Zardari further said that he used the money obtained from fraud for his purposes; the money was sent to fake bank accounts.

Accountability court judge Muhammad Azam Khan directed the prosecutor in Karachi to send Asif Zardari’s signature and fingerprints.

Still, the former president denied the guilt and said that he too had been fighting such cases for 30 years. Fighting, the judge said in his remarks, “Then you should not object to the indictment.”

Before indicting the former president, Iqbal Khan Noori, a co-accused in the Park Lane reference, asked the judge to acquit him of the reference and meet his client.

Lawyer Taha Raza said in the court that my client has no role in this reference, a meeting should be allowed before the indictment, on which Deputy Prosecutor General NAB Sardar Muzaffar Abbasi said that if there is a charging frame, it will be known.

Lawyer Taha Raza expressed his anger to the Prosecutor General NABP and said that you should not talk to me but address the court.

On this, Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Azam Khan said that we frame the charges today and also allow a meeting with the accused.

Khawaja Anwar Majeed, co-accused of Asif Zardari in Park Lane reference, was also indicted through video link, while accused Sher Ali, Farooq Abdullah, Mohammad Saleem Faisal and Mohammad Hanif have also been indicted.

Asif Zardari’s co-accused in the Park Lane reference has also denied any wrongdoing.
